Large range of ultra-hard cutting inserts for the first time at the Xylexpo 2010

As a leading global manufacturer and supplier of carbide cutting inserts, with close cooperations to market leading partners TIGRA can offer the most complete product range in carbide, but also in HSS, HSS Black Oxide, and now in PCD and PCBN. Depending on the application, TIGRA has the suitable solution for efficient working of solid wood, MDF, HDF, chipboard, metal, iron, composite materials, aluminum, plastics and other materials.

News report from the Xylexpo Show 2010

Visitors were convinced about TIGRA´s large range of approved carbide and HSS products in Pavilion 6 Booth H13K18. Further more and despite the economic depression associated with drastic sales losses throughout the woodworking industry, at Xylexpo TIGRA presented a variety of new products not only attracting the international audience at the trade show.

8 different types of system planer knives

As the first and sole provider the Bavarian company offered 8 different types of planer knives in carbide and HSS manufactured according to the latest Black Oxide technology. Particularly significant for the black-colored Black Oxide knives is an extreme hardness on the cutting edge providing an optimum cutting quality and long service life, and an unbeatable price. In addition to the planer knives for the systems Tersa, Terminus, CentroLock, Centrofix and Bulldozer to Xylexpo also the planer knives for the systems Variplan, Enshin and Sinus were presented in carbide and Black Oxide, HSS partly as coils.

Saw tips for circular saws in many varieties and dimensions

Another highlight were TIGRA´s carbide saw tips. Thanks to large investments and enormous in-house efforts in the own production last year, TIGRA was able to show a large and versatile range of saw tips on the market. Best results in different applications could already be achieved internationally. The users can select 9 different carbide grades for different working materials. The program contained saw tips and strobe blanks in mm and inch dimensions, saw tips even pre-tinned.

PCD discs and custom-made segments

In the past TIGRA had concentrated on the production of carbide inserts for woodworking tools. Since this year and totally new ultra-hard PCD as blanks and cut-to-size was included in TIGRA´s product range. The extremely hard and wear resistant polycrystalline diamond as cutting material in cutting tools is used to work timber, plastic and non-ferrous metal and ensures high precision and efficiency. PCD-tipped tools are specifically used in the working of homogeneous chipboards, fiber boards and plywood as well as hard natural woods. PCD sintered on a carbide blank provides excellent mechanical wear resistance and long tool lifetime, especially with abrasive materials. Depending on the application, the user can also select various PCD grades ensuring optimal results.

Further product innovations: PCBN cutting inserts and special carbide parts

In addition to woodworking TIGRA started focusing on PcBN products, half and semifinished products for the working of metals and composite materials. At the Milan Show 2010 as well as in the new TIGRA catalog for metal and composite material working all product news were presented in detail.

Another product focus were special carbide parts used in various industry applications. Some examples of special carbide parts are wear-resistant parts, blanks, flat parts and knives used in mechanical engineering and/or for working textile, carbon, rubber and plastics. To optimize their own production and get optimum individual solutions  customers around the world use TIGRA´s special expertise in manufacturing tungsten carbide and its unique application technology.
